Why Reading Difficulties Matter

Reading is foundational for learning, communication, and confidence, especially for children with dyslexia and other language-based reading difficulties. When reading is difficult, the impact often extends far beyond academics.

Academic

Reading difficulties affect learning across all subjects and make it harder to keep up in school.

Emotional

Children may experience frustration, anxiety, and a loss of confidence when reading feels difficult.

Long-Term

Literacy impacts education, career opportunities, and overall life outcomes.

Intervention Grounded in Research

Decades of research supported by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development show that with structured, evidence-based instruction, approximately 90–95% of children with reading difficulties can develop reading skills within the average range or above.

Reading and writing are based on oral language development. Through explicit, systematic intervention, I support the underlying skills that contribute to literacy, including speech sound awareness, letter-sound correspondence, vocabulary, word structure awareness, and sentence comprehension.
